We have an exciting opportunity in the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre for someone with a passion for engineering who is looking to use their skills in manufacturing to make an impact on UK productivity.

Involvement in the Factory 2050 Integrated Manufacturing project is a fantastic opportunity to influence the way products are being manufactured and to develop innovative solutions towards industrial problems in the UK. You will deal directly with some of the most advanced technologies and companies in the world, such as Airbus, Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems, Spirit AeroSystems, and GKN Aerospace, as well as diverse industries beyond aerospace.

As an Assistant Project Engineer, you will work alongside Project Engineers, Technical Leads, and others on a diverse range of projects. You will work with cutting edge technology to solve real problems, dealing directly with customers and other external stakeholders, and occasionally travelling to visit suppliers and partner companies.

You are expected to:
  • Have experience of at least one of the following areas:
o AI / Machine Learning / Data Science
o Control systems and Software
o Networks and connectivity
o AR/VR development (Unity)
o Digital twins
o Software development and script-based programming e.g. Python, Java, C++/C#, or other
o Cyber security
  • Be able to assess and solve technical challenges while working independently and/or as part of a team.
  • Have good organisational skills and time management skills such as planning personal workload effectively, as well as checking progress against a project plan.
